Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry thawed
  • 1 cup store-bought apple pie filling
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon optional
  • 1 egg beaten, for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the pastry: Roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  • Add the filling: Spread the apple pie filling down the center of the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges. Sprinkle cinnamon on top if desired.
  • Fold and seal: Fold the sides of the pastry over the filling, overlapping them slightly. Pinch the edges to seal and place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Brush with egg wash: Lightly brush the pastry with the beaten egg for a golden crust.
  • Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  • Cool and serve: Let the strudel cool for 10 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar before slicing.
