For the Dough:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- ¾ cup warm water 110°F/45°C
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Sauce:
- ½ cup tomato sauce or marinara
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon olive oil
For the Toppings:
- 2 cups fresh mushrooms button, cremini, or portobello, thinly sliced
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese optional
- 1 small onion thinly sliced (optional)
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon olive oil for sautéing mushrooms

Step 1: Make the Dough
Mix yeast, sugar, and warm water in a bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
Put the dough in a bowl greased with oil, cover, and let it there for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
