Step 1: Make the Dough
- Mix yeast, sugar, and warm water in a bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
- Put the dough in a bowl greased with oil, cover, and let it there for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
Step 2: Prepare the Sauce
- In a small bowl, mix tomato sauce, oregano, garlic powder, and olive oil. Set aside.
Step 3: Sauté the Mushrooms
- Pour olive oil in a pan and heat it.
- Add sliced mushrooms and minced garlic. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until tender. Set aside.
Step 4: Assemble the Pizza
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.
- Use a floured surface and roll out the dough into around 12-inch circle.
- Transfer the dough to a parchment-lined pizza peel or baking sheet.
- Spread the sauce evenly over the dough.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
- Add sautéed mushrooms and any additional toppings like onions or Parmesan.
Step 5: Bake the Pizza
- Put the pizza onto the hot stone or baking sheet.
- Cook for about 10-12 minutes until you see the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
Step 6: Serve
- When ready remove it from the oven and give it for 2-3 minutes to cool.
- Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
- Slice and serve immediately.
