Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon optional
  • 1 large egg
  • cup milk
  • 1 tbsp melted butter or oil
  • Oil for frying vegetable or canola
  • Sugar or cinnamon sugar for coating

Method
 

  1. Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. Add wet ingredients: Stir in the egg, milk, and melted butter until you get a soft, sticky dough.
  3. Heat oil: Pour oil into a deep pan (about 2 inches deep). Heat to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Shape and fry: Scoop small spoonfuls of dough and carefully drop them into the hot oil. Fry in batches, turning until golden-brown (about 2–3 minutes each side).
  5. Drain and coat: Remove with a slotted spoon. Drain on paper towels. Roll warm donut holes in sugar or cinnamon sugar.
