Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups cubed day-old bread brioche or French bread
  • cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 large eggs
  • cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley or 1 tsp dried
  • 1 tbsp chopped chives or green onions optional
  • Butter for greasing

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Stir in cheese and herbs.
  4. Add bread cubes and toss to coat evenly. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  5. Pour mixture into the baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until golden and set in the center.
  7. Cool slightly before serving.
