For the Swedish Meatballs:
- 1 lb 450g ground beef
- ½ lb 225g meat of your choice
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup milk
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp allspice
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- 2 tbsp butter for frying
Forthe Gravy:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Dill Potatoes:
- 1.5 lbs 700g baby potatoes, halved
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp fresh dill chopped
- ½ tsp salt
1. Make the Meatballs:
In a bowl, mix ground beef, meat of your choice, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, milk, salt, pepper, allspice, and nutmeg.
Shape into small meatballs (about 1 inch).
Heat butter in a pan and cook the meatballs until browned on all sides (about 8 minutes). Remove and set aside.
2. Make the Gravy:
In the same pan, melt butter and stir in flour. Cook for 1 minute.
Slowly add beef broth, stirring until smooth.
Pour in heavy cream and mustard. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Return meatballs to the pan and simmer for 10 more minutes.
