Ingredients
  

Cornbread
  • 1 cup cornmeal fine-ground
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
Honey Butter
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking dish or skillet.
  2. In a bowl, whisk cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix milk, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients. Stir gently until just mixed. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. While baking, mix softened butter and honey in a small bowl until smooth.
  7. Serve warm cornbread slices with a generous spread of honey butter.
