Step1: Prepare the Batter
- In a bowl, mix together the salt, sugar, flour, baking soda, baking powder.
- In a second bowl, mix the egg, melted butter, milk and vanilla extract.
- Mix wet ingredients dry ingredients while keep stirring gently until combined. The batter should not be overmixed.
Preheat and Grease the Sandwich Maker
- Preheat your sandwich maker for a few minutes. Most machines will have an indicator light to show when it’s ready.
- Lightly grease the plates with butter or nonstick spray to prevent sticking and enhance the flavor.
Step 3: Pour the Batter
- Carefully pour the batter into each section of the sandwich maker. Don’t overfill; the batter will spread as it cooks.
- Close the lid gently without pressing too hard to avoid overflow.
Step 4: Cook the Waffles
- Let the waffles cook for about 4-6 minutes. Check them after 4 minutes to see if they’re golden brown.
- If they need more time, close the lid and cook for an additional minute or two.
Step 5: Remove and Serve
- Use a silicone spatula or tongs to carefully remove the waffles from the sandwich maker.
- Serve immediately with your favorite toppings like syrup, fruits, whipped cream, or chocolate sauce.
