Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying vegetable or canola

Method
 

  1. Heat the oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, mix egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients. Stir until a thick dough forms.
  5. Scoop small spoonfuls (1 tbsp) of dough and gently drop into hot oil.
  6. Fry 2–3 minutes, turning to brown evenly. Don’t overcrowd the pan.
  7. Drain on paper towels.
  8. While warm, roll in powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, or dip in glaze.
